Composite items represent finished goods produced from raw materials. In Tyms, production orders manage the manufacturing process, calculate costs, and update inventory automatically.

1. Create a Composite Item
Navigate to More in the top navigation, hover over Inventory, then select Items.
On the Inventory page, click the Composite items tab, then click Create Composite Items. You'll see two options:
Ask Adam: Redirects you to a page where you type a prompt describing the composite item (and optionally attach a file, e.g. "create..."). Note: your document should be under 15,000 characters (~100 entries) and a maximum of 10 pages for PDF files.
Create manually: Opens a form to fill in the composite item's details.

The form is divided into the following sections:
Item details
Image: tap to upload an image of the item (optional)
Item name: name of the finished product
SKU: unique identifier
Unit: unit of the finished item (defaults to "unit")
Selling price: default selling price
Components
Add the raw materials needed to produce this item:
Item: select the raw material
Quantity: amount of the raw material needed per
Unit cost: cost per unit of the raw material
Line total: auto-calculated
Use the + / − icons to add or remove component rows
Total material cost: auto-calculated sum of all components
Description: Optional free-text field to describe the composite item.
Accounts
Revenue account: income account for sales (e.g. Sales revenue)
Cost of goods sold account: default COGS account (e.g. Purchases)
Tax: applicable tax, if any
Additional details
Reorder unit
Shelf life (days): if applicable
Branch
Item categories: optional
Tags: optional
Once all required fields are filled, click Create.
2. Create a Production Order
Production orders are used to manufacture composite items.
On the Composite items tab, you'll see all composite items you've created. Click the three-dot menu next to the item and select Create production order. This opens a form with the following sections:
Production details
Title: e.g. "Production run for [SKU]"
Currency*
Date*
Batch number: auto-generated (e.g. PRO-00001)
Items to produce
Shows the composite item, how many units are Producible from current raw material stock, the Cost, and lets you set the Quantity to produce. Total cost is calculated automatically, along with the overall Total cost of production.
Entry accounts (checkbox to expand)
Work in progress account
Finished goods account
Extend costs of production (checkbox to expand)
Add any additional production costs beyond raw materials:
Overhead cost + Overhead account
Direct labour + Direct labour account
Direct expenses + Direct expenses account
Classification
Branch
Employee: optional
Department: optional
Project: optional
Tags: optional
Memo: Optional free-text notes.
Saving the Production Order
Click the Save as dropdown and choose either:
Pending order: saves the order without affecting inventory yet
Work in progress: moves raw materials into production immediately
3. Managing Production Order Status
Once created, production orders appear on the Production orders tab, showing Title, Date, Batch No., Quantity, Composite Item, Status, Raw Materials, Overhead, Direct Labour, Direct Expenses, and Total Costs.
If the order is Pending: Click the three-dot menu on the row and select To work in progress. This moves raw material costs into the Work in Progress account.
If the order is Work in progress: Click the three-dot menu and select To finished goods. A confirmation modal appears: "This will move the production order to finished goods and post the related accounting entries. You won't be able to undo this step. Do you want to continue?"
Click To finished goods to confirm.
Completing a production order:
Reduces raw material inventory
Moves costs through Work in Progress
Increases finished goods inventory
Records production costs accurately
Once completed, go back to the Composite items tab, you'll see the stock updated (e.g. from 0 to 13), confirming production of 13 units of Fruit juice, which are now ready to sell.
